Grandma’s dumplings
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2-3/4 package dry yeast
- 6 slices white bread cut in cubes
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 T Flour
- 1 T sugar
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm water with flour and sugar
- Cut bread into cubes
- Mix together flour and salt- add warm milk and beaten eggs (be sure yeast mixture is fermenting, tiny little bubbles will appear)
- Then add yeast mixture to flour mixture
- Mix well- 150 beats
- Then FOLD in bread cubes, do not beat
- Cover and let rise in warm place for one hour or until it doubles in size
- Form into four balls and drop into boiling water (do not put on wax paper while waiting for water to boil- it will stick)
- Boil for 18 to 20 mins in a covered pot. Make sure water continues to boil for entire 20 mins
- Do not uncover pot while cooking
- Take out one by one and cut with string
