Scones

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 upsugar
  • 2 T. powdered buttermilk
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 upchilled butter
  • 1 cup blueberries or dried fruit
  • Optional white chocolate chips
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425.
  2. Mix 2 ½ cups flour, ¼ cup sugar, 2 T. powdered buttermilk and 2 tsp. baking powder. Cut in ½ cup chilled butter. Add 1 cup blueberries or dried fruit. (I often add white chocolate chips and craisins.)
  3. Separately, mix 1 large egg with ½ cup water (should equal ¾ cup liquid). Blend into flour mix. Do not over mix.
  4. Mound dough onto buttered baking sheet or parchment paper and bake 15-20 min.
  5. Top with a powdered sugar glaze, if desired. (I used powdered sugar, milk & almond extract).
