Scones (irish Soda Bread) Recipe
Ingredients
- 3 1/4 c flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- sugar, optional (i don’t use)
- 2-4 Tbsp herbs, optional
- 1 1/2 c buttermilk
Instructions
- Make a well in the center of dry ingredients and pour in buttermilk. Stir from the inside out, by hand.
- Flour board and hands. Press out and shape dough. Brush top with egg wash. Cut into scones.
- Optional: dip wedges into grated Cheddar cheese.
- Bake 10-15 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
